BIO: James P. Blaylock began publishing fantasy novels with The Elfin Ship, in 1982.  He has followed up with several more novels, including elements of fantasy, modern fabulism, and steampunk.  Blaylock was mentored in his early career by Philip K. Dick and formed friendships with Tim Powers and K.W. Jeter.  In collaboration with Powers, Blaylock has created the poet William Ashbless, who not only appears in works by both authors, but also in collaborations.  When Blaylock isn’t actively writing, he teaches creative writing at Chapman University.  He has won the World Fantasy Award for his short stories “Paper Dragons” (1985) and “Thirteen Phantasms” (1997).  In 1987, his steampunk novel Homonculus won the Philip K. Dick Award.
